One of the must see wineries near Canberra

Ours is a journey of interconnection, a winding country road, over the creek, up through the stringy bark forest and onto the freedom of an open clearing.

Small parcels of fruit grow here, with healthy soils, clear air, brilliant sunshine and an organic approach, rewarding Fiona with exquisite fruit.  With her hands and a meticulous manner she creates, Yarrh Wines - running water.

We consistently produce a high quality range of small batch, hand crafted, estate grown and bottled wines, available for purchase at the cellar door, on-line and through selected retail outlets.

Our winery and cellar door was established with strong environmental practices, boasting a contemporary Australian rammed earth and straw bale design, and a magnificent view across the Yass River valley.

Cellar door is open Friday to Sunday for wine tasting and sales from 11am to 5pm.

Winter Solstice Bonfire

Monday, 05 June 2017

Bonfire at Yarrh Wines near Murrumbateman

Come and help us celebrate the shortest day of the year at our annual Winter Solstice Bonfire on Saturday 17th June.

The winter solstice (shortest day of the year or "midwinter") has been recognised and celebrated since Neolithic times and by many civilisations.  It marks the closing out of one growing season and marks renewal - the beginning of the long march to Spring.

In temperate climates, the midwinter celebration was the last before people hunkered down, hoping they had put enought away to last until the first crops in Spring.  By midwinter, wine and beer made during the earlier harvest had finished fermentation and were ready for the celebration.

Pull on your woollies, laugh at the cold, enjoy some delicious canapés and a glass or two of fine Canberra District wines while toasting yourself by the bonfire.

We'll start with speed tastings in the cellar.  Mingle as you circulate the tasting stations, trying out some simple tastes matched with our fine wines.  Limited quantities of back vintages will be available for sale only on the day, along with the full range of current wines.

The run sheet:
          - 3:30pm  - 5pm: speed tastings and sales
          - 5pm - 7pm: canapés, wine and bonfire

Tickets are $30/head for adults, $10/head for kids having canapés, free otherwise.

Members of the Yarrh Wine Club are eligible for 2 free tickets per membership.

This year, half of all proceeds (ticket and wine sales) will go to the Yass River Nanima Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade, which last summer sent out more than 30 crews during the eight-week peak of the season. The brigade is saving for a shed extension that will house its growing number of members, and hopes to reach the target amount this year, so buy up big!

Book early for this popular event!  Bookings and payment are required in advance. To book your place please email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or call us on 6227 1474.

Happy Winter Solstice!
